These steaks were easily the biggest surprise of any Edenmoor product so far. If ever you needed proof that properly reared beef is superior to supermarket meat then this is it..

  • It’s slightly ironic that these steaks are called ‘Every Day Steaks’. It’s not because we encourage you to eat them every day, it’s because, technically, they shouldn’t be amazing. They shouldn’t have an unbelievable depth of flavour, or a mouth-watering texture that releases more intensity with every bite. But we'd argue they do!

Our Every Day Steaks come from some of the hardest-working muscles of our 100% Grass Fed Beef. They are expertly cut from the top rump, knuckle or LMC (Leg of Mutton Cut. So called because of its shape, despite being entirely beef). Whenever availability allows, we'll also source from the topside and rump.

These aren't cuts that receive the same fanfare as fillet or sirloin, but to us they're every bit as special. We might even argue they're better. They have real character, delivering rich, beefy flavour with a satisfying bite. And around here, we like character.

    Each steak weighs approximately 150g

  • Defrost the steaks by placing them into a bowl of cool water (still in their packaging). They should thaw in less than 10 minutes. Once thawed, remove the steaks from their packaging and dry them all over using a kitchen towel. Season well with good quality pure Sea Salt. Take a cast iron pan and heat it until it is very hot. Do not add any oil to the meat or the pan. Place the steak in the pan and cook for one minute. Turn over and cook on the other side for a further minute, until the juices start to appear on the surface. Turn over and cook for two and half minutes, flipping over onto each side (you could add butter and herbs at this stage and baste). The cooking time should be five minutes in total. Rest uncovered for at least five minutes - be patient as this bit is key.

  • All of our meat is delivered frozen ready to pop straight into your freezer, once defrosted these can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.

  • It's a steak cut from a selection of muscles around the carcass through careful seam butchery, such as those alongside the collar or clod bone, parts of the topside and even the neck fillet. These cuts aren't heralded like the fillet or sirloin, but they carry an unbelievable depth of flavour and a mouthwatering texture. It's about finding every bit of value from the animal.

  • The name isn't an encouragement to eat one every day. It's a nod to the fact that, technically, these lesser-known cuts shouldn't be this good, yet they deliver rich flavour and real character. We like character around here.

  • Cook it hot and fast for a medium-rare finish. These are quick-cook steaks that also work well in a salad, sandwich or stir fry when you're short on time. As with any steak, resting it after cooking is key.
