Our Traditional Easter Biscuits are a celebration of an old West Country recipe.
Handmade in small batches using time-honoured methods, each biscuit is carefully mixed, rolled and baked to achieve that perfect texture: lightly crisp at the edges with a tender, buttery crumb at the centre.
What sets them apart is their distinctive flavouring of cassia oil. A warming, aromatic spice with soft cinnamon notes that has long defined the character of traditional Easter biscuits. It’s fragrant rather than overpowering, lending a subtle sweetness and comforting depth that lingers beautifully on the palate.
Studded with plump currants and finished with a light scattering of sugar for a gentle crunch, they strike that perfect balance between spice and sweetness.
Delicious with a cup of tea, shared after a long spring walk, or gifted as part of an Easter table, these biscuits are a true taste of tradition.
Simple, honest, and made properly.
Cassia oil is a traditional Somerset recipe passed down through generations. Easter biscuits derived from Somerset and most now replace the cassia oil with cinnamon but this is the original way!
Legend has it that the Duke of Monmouth was given these delicious biscuits to help revive him following Somerset’s Battle of Sedgemoor in 1685.
